MBUT 0.38.0 - Build MB Rescue locally

Open MBUT.exe > Disk tools > Create bootable USB, or Check for updates >
Build or refresh MB Rescue locally. Click Prepare rescue image.

Windows PE comes from Microsoft tools installed on this PC. If they are missing,
MBUT downloads verified Microsoft installers directly from Microsoft and opens
their setup windows. Review their terms and complete both installations. Choose
Deployment Tools in the ADK installer and Windows PE in the add-on. You can
cancel setup. MBUT never restarts Windows automatically.

Automatic recovery from Windows servicing error 87
If Windows cannot add a required component with error 87, MBUT first closes
its failed image mount, then builds automatically inside a fresh temporary
Windows PE environment. No extra settings or Windows restart are needed.
After a successful build, this method is remembered for the same Windows
and Microsoft tool setup. Updated tools or a changed source image trigger
a new check. Choose Reuse a saved local build to avoid rebuilding entirely.

The fallback needs 16 GiB free on NTFS and uses 4 GiB of memory. Allow
30-60 minutes (slower PCs may take longer). Progress and logs are displayed.
The first fallback downloads about 200 MB of verified build helpers from
their original publishers: QEMU and 7-Zip. Later builds reuse that cache.
Windows PE still comes only from the Microsoft installation on this PC.
The temporary machine has no network and receives only temporary image
files. It has no access to physical disks. Stop after current step cancels
the guest build and preserves logs; incomplete images are never marked ready.

Preparation produces a local ISO and a USB build folder. It adds the existing
119 selected storage drivers, including the HPE set, without changing their
files or selection. Microsoft and driver licences continue to apply.

Select a separate USB of at least 4 GiB, tick the erase acknowledgement, and
review the device before confirming. All files on the selected USB are erased.
Large supported USB volumes use an 8 GiB FAT32 boot partition plus NTFS data.
No USB is changed during image preparation or an app update.

To refresh an older USB, update MBUT, build a new local image, back up the USB's
files elsewhere, and recreate it through the creator. Saved local builds can
be reused but do not gain newer app files or drivers automatically.

The optional four-choice UEFI menu requires your own official MemTest86 Free
11.7 download. Import it using Memory test options, or untick that option for
recovery-only media. Memory testing boots separately from Windows PE.
The local ISO shows the data/password recovery and File Manager picker.

Use the ISO on PCs you service under the applicable Microsoft terms. Public
MB Tools downloads do not include Windows PE. Do not assume a locally built
image can be redistributed. Test the finished media on your target hardware.

If servicing fails, the build log and DISM log remain in the build folder.
An incomplete build cannot be written through the creator. A failed mount
cleanup produces MOUNT-NEEDS-CLEANUP.txt identifying only that build's mount.
Errors other than this known component-servicing error are reported with
their original logs. A failed mount cleanup stops automatic recovery.
